acuzio Of course they do , most red states are net borrowers (FREEDOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM) and are on medicare and social benefits. [10:18]
Faux Those are poor people things. [10:19]
acuzio clearly [10:19]
cheeser the guardian did a great piece about what would happen if California and all it's stupid liberal democrats were to secede from the union [10:44]
cheeser tl;dr: it would not go well for the red states [10:44]
acuzio cheeser: Dont tell it to the fucks living in TN, MO, KY , NC or fucking anywhere else. [10:45]

freeone3000 Government is increasing our minimum credit card payment :( [12:11]
tang^ Government gives you credit cards? Cool. [12:13]
freeone3000 No, they just determine the interest rate and minimum payment and terms for acceptance. Private companies offer the actual credit. [12:14]
tang^ Yeah. I know. I was being silly. [12:14]
tang^ I'm gonna guess that they're stating the minimums be higher so that one actually has a chance to pay off the credit while only paying minimum [12:15]
freeone3000 Yep, raising from 2.5% to 5% over the next 3 years. [12:17]
ron that's a good thing [12:24]
acuzio its not [12:46]
tang^ who let him in [12:47]
acuzio The Government [12:47]
acuzio See what happens when the Govt.sets the rules this is outrageous [12:48]
acuzio Dear Lord , this is just sad and strangely funny in a morbid way [12:48]
acuzio hey Faux , arfe you still at your posh beach location ? [12:54]
Faux No, actually, we're fucked. [12:57]
Faux Thanks for asking though. [12:57]
acuzio why ? why are you fucked ? Did the Mrs find out about your Dildo collection ? [12:58]
Faux No, she knows where it is, just doesn't look. [12:58]
acuzio Fair enough./.. [12:58]
acuzio so why are you fucked ? [12:58]
Faux Strange policy but okay. [12:58]
yawkat that screenshot has acquired a surprising amount of jpg for being only 3 hours old [12:59]
Faux We can't sell. We've been rejected for every rental property on the market, and need to move in <6 weeks. We can just about afford the bottom end of the no-chain housing market, temporarily; but are yet to find a place we can stand and isn't financial suicide. [12:59]
acuzio Why cant you sell ? [01:00]
acuzio Ok , scratch that. [01:00]
acuzio Why cant you rent ? [01:00]
Faux 'cos we have a baby, I guess. [01:00]
Faux And it's a hot market. [01:01]
acuzio What .. what are you on about ? thats rubbish . unless you are exclusively looking at high-end properties in Chelsea or West Hampstead or Knightsbridge or some such shit [01:01]
acuzio No says no cause you have a baby [01:02]
Faux Wanna bet. [01:02]
acuzio Even i wouldnt do that and i am a terrible person [01:02]
Faux Why would they accept us when they have people without a baby? [01:02]
acuzio (ask ron to confirm) [01:02]
acuzio Faux: Having a baby doesnt make any fucking difference to the rent of the property ? Its considered better cause parents dont move at short notice and are generally tidier. So no that cant be the case. [01:03]
Faux They also shit on the carpet. [01:03]
acuzio take an unfurnished property [01:03]
yawkat [01:03]
acuzio done [01:03]
Faux Yup, we're looking at furnished or unfurnished. [01:03]
yawkat "because they?re still just a person that thinks that they made the best decision that they could with the information that they have, and all the misinformation that?s out there." [01:04]
yawkat mostly sad :/ [01:04]
acuzio Faux: So take unfurnished [01:04]
acuzio yawkat:and happy cause Alabama.. heh .. [01:04]
Faux acuzio: We applied for everywhere within cycling distance of the town. [01:04]
Faux All rejected. [01:04]
acuzio Faux: "town" ... wait where is this ? [01:04]
Faux Fuckstone. [01:04]
yawkat pronounced fauxstone [01:05]
acuzio You are talking in your posh language again .. Faux . I dont know much outside Zone 2 [01:05]
Faux Your house is outside of zone 2, acuzio. [01:05]
acuzio And i dont know much about it [01:05]
acuzio or the surrounding area. [01:05]
acuzio I am still trying to figure out the local Kebab shop that is open 24/7 ,,, there isnt one [01:06]
acuzio We are both trying to understand the local area.. but forget that .. where are you looking for houses to rent ? [01:07]
Faux ..fuckstone. [01:09]
acuzio dude there cannot be a place called fuckstone .., is it ? [01:14]
Faux Folkestone. [01:15]
acuzio Kent [01:16]
acuzio figures [01:16]
acuzio You have a foreign wife , you cant get a place [01:16]
yawkat wonder if theres commuters from france. [01:17]
acuzio of course not [01:17]
yawkat would be funny though. [01:18]
acuzio The UK is paying France to keep out illegal immigrants from the channel; "Fun" fact : this was something that was shared as a common responsibility by the EU under the Dublin accord. [01:19]
acuzio Even more "Fun" fact : The UK saved a large employer .. Nissan by paying huge amounts to the company. Nissan is part owned by Renault which is part owned by .. yes France. [01:19]
Faux yawkat: The international train is ruinously expensive and brext means customs now takes 2h instead of 20 mins. :( [01:21]
Faux acuzio: She's british as of today. :P [01:21]
acuzio Faux: she must really like you... [01:22]

Faux Plus the sossig, yeah. [02:28]
acuzio sossig ? [02:28]
AMcBain Hmf. Salesforce bought Slack. :-/ [02:31]
acuzio that was long time ago [02:33]
AMcBain Only just finalized. [02:33]
AMcBain I assume sossig -> sausage -> wiener dog perhaps. [02:34]

Faux Our cat is a sossig. [02:52]
puppy_za well someone is gonna buy Slack [03:17]
puppy_za or was [03:17]
puppy_za and it's not gonna be Microsoft or Facebook [03:18]
cheeser MS has teams. they won't buy slack. [03:18]
tang^ Salesforce [03:19]
puppy_za cheeser: that's why I said MS wouldn't :p [03:22]
tang^ Salesforce just completed the Slack acquisition. Surely they aren't looking to sell it already. [03:24]
cheeser tang^: i *knew* i had something like that in my head but i couldn't remember the details. :) [03:25]
AMcBain They're saying they want to reorient to be Slack-first in this renewed working from home age. [03:40]
AMcBain but all I kinda wonder is "How many changes are you going to impose on it that it stops being worth using?" [03:40]
tang^ [tang^!~DoofusCan@2604:3d09:47c:f970:79cd:4577:9b9c:a5fa] has joined #java-talk [03:50]
tang^ funny thing is the completion was just announced today [03:51]
tang^ we're going back to the office ourselves [03:52]
tang^ we make office solutions... kinda hard to sell that if we don't use it ourselves [03:52]
AMcBain "Stocks of water cooler companies have dipped over 60%!" :P (I have no idea.) [03:55]
tang^ hehehe [03:55]

ricky_clarkson Why does ERP dev velocity, code quality, languages involved, etc., have to suck? Is it literally because it attracts shitty devs? [07:25]
ricky_clarkson Salesforce has this shitty half-Java half-SQL language, SAP has ABAP, basically COBOL for the 90s. Oracle's PL/SQL is probably the most reasonable I've seen and still ends up with reams of shit to do simple things. [07:26]
AMcBain So you're suggesting the acquisition of Slack may have been an improvement for Salesforce. :P [07:47]
ricky_clarkson Or they'll rewrite Slack in R or something [07:53]
AMcBain You'll no longer be able to send messages, but the user statistics will be amazing. [08:00]
KekSi [KekSi!] has joined #java-talk [08:33]
ricky_clarkson Salesforce apparently enforces 70% code coverage before allowing a deployment [08:39]
ricky_clarkson so I've seen tests that literally just call lots of methods and assert nothing, to get up to that magical 70% [08:39]

db morning [09:23]
db for some reason it must be incredibly difficult to assign project permissions to devs on JIRA; I've never done this myself, but on every new project, I can't create new release versions, and every time it goes back and forth like "please try again, I did something, not sure if it's that one" "no doesn't work yet" [09:24]
